Bringing on the "New Guy"

Lead, Change, Relationships

There's a new "new guy" on the team. (I am using "new guy" to include both men and women.)

As team leader, what do you do to bring the "new guy" on board?

  • Look at yourself first - set the example for being welcoming & inclusive

  • Invite engagement & dialogue - without negative repercussions

  • Share your whole self - encourage others to do so

  • Foster transparent decision making

  • Lean into resistance - understand & engage

  • Connect inclusion to vision & mission - it is just "nice to have," it helps achieve goals

Bringing on the "new guy" properly has positive implications for reaching your team's and organization's goals!
